Rising Stars Quartets

Young string players from the Sunshine Coast Youth Orchestra are part of an exciting new chamber music mentoring program, Rising Stars, an initiative of the inaugural festival. Eight young musicians will work with Festival Artistic Director Louise King and musicians from the Brisbane-based chamber orchestra, Camerata.

The students are part of a 12 week program, a series of sessions building their musicianship skills and developing valuable techniques and insights about playing in a string quartet. The string quartets will perform on the program alongside other professional musicians in the festival’s closing event in Buderim on Sunday 20 June 2021. The two quartets are:

KREScendo Quartet
Kate Munroe, Violin
Sebastian Box, Violin
Reese Corner, Viola
Ella Berglas, Cello

Wandaaba Quartet
Lily Kirkpatrick, Violin
Melissa Buddle, Violin
Tajah Godfrey, Viola
Aleksander Little, Cello

Community members can support the Rising Stars participants by attending the Sunshine Coast Chamber Music Festival’s finale concert, Heartland, at the Buderim Park Sound Shell, 2pm, Sunday 20 June 2021
